Buyer Beware The Crimes, Lies and Truth About Pet Food by Susan Thixton Book Review
This book was pretty great....great as in depressingly eye opening BUT that IS NOT a bad thing. Educating pet owners about the terrors in the pet food industry needs to be informative yet eye opening. More pet owners need to read this book. It's a quick read but gives personal accounts and is written in a clear, understandable manner. The book heavily scrutinizes the pet food industry most notably through defining ingredients often used in commercial pet foods and what they really are as well as shedding light on the contradictions in laws, regulations and even letter responses from pet food representatives that make you question whats really going on.
This book is a great starter to delve into whats really happening in the pet industry. My only criticism is that although the author mentioned she home cooks for her pets personally, she doesn't delve into this, although I guess that would in the end take away from the main points of the book.
Warning: This book does contain sad stories about lost or suffering pets that had succumb to the hands of the pet food industry and their lies.
